Family Beach Photos for an Adventurous Crew in Westport

Rain, Wind, Humidity? Who Cares? We’re all together and having a great time!

I really never thought it was actually going to happen. For once, all the weather forecasts were saying the same thing: Rain, thunder, and plenty of it.

We put off the decision until the very last moment, when all the family had arrived, and all the kids were fed and dressed. It hadn’t actually started raining yet, so YES. We’re going for it!

Who cares if it might pour on our family beach photos? We’re all here, and we’re doing this! First photo of Grandma with all of her grandkids!

Yes, I have a crazy family who like to do family beach photos right before thunderstorms. Yay!

Although we were taking a chance to head down to the beach right before a thunderstorm, for this family of risk-takers, it was definitely the perfect setting. Everyone pulled together to get the photo session done efficiently — the skies could have opened up at any second — and everyone actually had a good time working under pressure.

Everyone was together for the weekend at Compo Beach in Westport to celebrate the first birthday of the youngest member of the family. He didn’t totally understand what was going on, but in the end he had some fun showing off his new walking abilities, which isn’t so easy in the wind and sand. He also sat in a crate for the first time. He wasn’t totally into that…

All the other kids were pumped up with promises of post-photo ice cream and a variety of other bribes. But they knew this was all for Grandma who was there to celebrate for the first time with all of her grandchildren around her. Is there a better reason for family beach photos? She’ll have this to look back on and remember the lengths the family went to to show her the love.

Well, the rain did hold off until the kids were off to ice cream, the moms were inside with a glass or two of wine, and all my photo equipment was safely packed up in the car.

In fact, when we got all the beach photos we wanted of all the different family entities, we had a little bonus time for a few shots of everyone doing their best pose before running in to avoid the rain.

Victory is ours! We held off the rain and conquered family beach photos for Grandma!
