Timeless and classic style

What does natural newborn photography really mean? Basically, it’s just a more relaxed approach to newborn photography.

If you’re looking for photos baby dressed in sparkly outfits, with props and buckets and painted backgrounds, that’s great, it’s just not what I do. (Although, I love a cute hat or a bow!)

See my blog post on why I don’t “pose” babies. Sure, there is some guidance involved, but it’s more of a starting point. There isn’t a list of poses to get through. Timeless photos aren’t set up. They evolve.

This “lifestyle” approach focuses on the unique character of your new person, and the emerging connections with your family. These are sentimental and emotive photos. It’s your family, they way they are right now—perfect.

The combination of guided and lifestyle shots from your session will give you a wide range of images to remember this special time in the life of your family.

What you’ll want to remember is the awesomeness that is your baby—the crooked smile like grandma’s, the warm fuzzy head, the plump tiny fingers—not the outfit.

C’mon over… I’m ready for you.

My cozy newborn photography studio in Newtown, Connecticut is a warm and safe environment to capture your first days together as a family. All you have to do is get here with the baby, and I’ll do the rest. Check out a quick studio tour here.

You’re welcome to take a few minutes for yourself in the comfy lounge area, or you can “ooh and ahh” at all the cuteness we’ve uncovered. We aim for a very low-stress baby photography experience for everyone involved.

OR, sit back down and rest — I’ll come to you!

I’ve been there. I’m a mom, I understand what it’s like. That’s why I’m available to travel to you to hold a newborn session in the comfort of your own home.

And—please don’t clean up for me. I don’t judge. I know how to ever-so-gently push the pile of laundry out of the frame with my foot. And, hubby can keep watching the game on the big screen.

The number one comment I hear once a new mom has seen the images for the first time is “I cannot believe that you did all this in our family room!”

You CAN get what you want.

All Newborn Collections come with the good stuff that you really want: Hi-res digital images with full personal printing rights; archival quality prints; and hand-crafted albums. Collections are available at several price points with a variety of products that today’s busy parents want.

And you won’t have to make another trip out to view your photos. About 7-10 days after your session, you can immediately download your hi-res digital images directly to your computer. Your handcrafted album or keepsake prints will follow about 10-14 days after that.

You can always add to your Collection by adding some luxurious a la carte prints or gallery wraps to decorate your home.

To be sure that you’re ordering the right size and style of printed photos, I’m always available in person, or virtually, to help you out.

When is the best time to plan your baby’s newborn photo session?

As soon as you know when you’re due. But, whenever YOU’RE ready is the right time. If that’s right away, fine, if that’s at 2-3 months, that’s okay too!

Natural newborn photography doesn’t have to adhere to the strict guidelines. See my blog post about this here.

My schedule is booked well in advance, so please get on my calendar at least 4-6 weeks before your due date. It’s suggested to photograph within the first 2 weeks of birth, but really anytime you and your family is ready is the RIGHT time.

Maternity sessions

There is something so powerful about a woman who is comfortable with her body while growing a new life inside her.

For mamas-to-be who are apprehensive about a maternity session, I always say that it is not just about you, but about you AND your baby together, and this is the beginning of your story as a family.

See my blog post on maternity sessions in the studio.

Maternity photo sessions typically last about an hour and can be held in your home or on location. You are totally in control of how much of your mama-body you’d like to show and what you’d like to wear. I have some great advice and suggestions for clothing and prep. A selection of elegant gowns and wraps are also available.

If you have any questions, or if you’re ready to get on the schedule, give me a call at 203-426-4493 or send me an email today.
